Dyslexia Assessments
How does it work?
After agreeing that a dyslexia assessment is the right option, you will be sent background information forms that will need to be completed by parents or carers and the child's school. The assessment will then happen. It takes about 3 hours to complete. Within 2 weeks, you will be provided with a comprehensive report with the results and recommendations which will be discussed in a feedback meeting. The assessment may result in a diagnosis of dyslexia and contain details for home and school support.
Current guidelines suggest waiting until a child is at least 8 years old for a diagnostic assessment. In my experience, it can be better to wait until 9 years old, however, I am happy to discuss assessments with younger children as it depends on each individual child. Please do get in touch to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
